Survival Guide

Welcome to the amazing journey of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu! If Jiu-Jitsu was a book, the first chapter would be titled survival. Expect your first 2-4 months in the sport to be filled with confusion, flopping around the mat, getting mat burns, feelings of extreme fatigue and muscle soreness, as the information comes at you at a rate you can't absorb. Lucky for you, we at are here to guide you through this difficult journey. The videos selected below should be watched in order and the techniques engrained prior to moving on to the next movement. We know its much more fun to drill offensive moves and flashy submissions, but the hard truth is you will not have the opportunity to pull those techniques off for the foreseeable future. The quickest way for you to improve and start enjoying Jiu-Jitsu is to have solid defensive movements and the ability to escape submission threats. Once again, welcome to the wonderful sport of BJJ, enjoy the process and keep a positive attitude and the learning process will be well worth it.
